GGBS

Building Foundations for the Future · Manufactured at Bagodara by our group company, Maanith Industries Pvt Ltd

IS 16714

Our Bagodara plant is dedicated to providing world-class Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag (GGBS) — the smarter binder for stronger, longer-lasting and greener concrete.

What is GGBS?

GGBS, explained

When iron is made in a blast furnace, a molten slag rises to the top. Quenched instantly with water, it turns into glassy granules rich in reactive minerals. We dry these granules and grind them finer than cement. The result is GGBS — an off-white powder that works with cement to make concrete denser, stronger over time and far more resistant to attack.

Benefits

Why GGBS concrete performs better

  • Sulphate & chloride resistanceProtects concrete in marine, coastal and saline-soil conditions
  • Low heat of hydrationFewer thermal cracks in rafts, dams and mass pours
  • Higher long-term strengthKeeps gaining strength well beyond 28 days
  • Low permeabilityBlocks water and salts — reinforcement stays protected
  • Carbonation controlKeeps concrete alkaline and steel safe from corrosion
  • Better workabilitySmoother placing and pumping, less bleeding
  • Brighter finishA lighter, more even concrete colour
  • Lower carbon footprintLess clinker, less CO₂ — supports green building ratings
